About us

Polocrosse Calgary's members come from all over the place and we practice and play in the city's South Glenmore Park at the end of 90th Avenue SW. The field is our home base and our players and their horses travel in from surrounding areas like Strathmore, Chestermere, DeWinton, Springbank and more.
 
Our members come from every walk of equestrian life and incude players of all ages and abilities. We have riders with a variety of backgrounds and many of them are active in other disciplines including 4H, Pony Club, eventing, gymkhana, show jumping, Cowboy Challenge, and just about anything else you can name! We also have players with no significant riding background who are just beginning their equestrian journey and learning as they go. We really believe that polocrosse can be played by anyone who can get on their horse and our number one priority is the safety and well-being of our horses and ourselves.

You don't have to become a member to come out and give polocrosse a go, but we know that once you try it you will be hooked and want to join! We invite new players to come ride with us up to 4 times before joining but we will still require that you sign a waiver and you must wear proper boots and a helmet. We encourage all riders and horse owners to be current members of the Alberta Equestrian Federation and this is a requirement for membership in our club.

About polocrosse

Polocrosse is a team sport played all over the world, particularly in nations of the British Commonwealth. The game originated in Australia before the Second World War as a combo between polo and lacrosse, It offers challenges to equestrians and athletes of all abilities and ages. Safety and good horsemanship are the top goals of polocrosse at all levels.

In Canada, polocrosse is still fairly small but growing fast!
